Background Notes:
Written for the Holden Community, the four verses of this hymn text followed the Village’s four-week 2020 Advent theme that paralleled key developmental periods of pregnancy: darkness in the womb; gestation and growth; turning and fear; and birth. During Advent, the Village explored the healing, nurturing qualities of the dark and the ways in which it prepares us for the birth of new life.
